18-year-old Jakob Wagner was shot multiple times by Antigo police after firing a weapon and striking the couple once each. The injured girl was grazed by the bullet, and was treated and released from an area hospital.
The injured male's parents issued a statement, which was read to the media during a news conference Monday afternoon. It says, "We have always believed that God is good and has a plan even in the midst of tragedy." They added, "We are so thankful for his girlfriend and two friends on the scene who acted so bravely and calm."
The victim's family also asked people to pray for Wagner's family. They said, "As much as we are struggling through this event, we cannot imagine the grief they are experiencing at this time. We want everyone to know that we believe and trust in the eternal God."
This family's son is recovering from surgery after being shot in the thigh by a hunting rifle.
