GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A Green Bay brewery is doing its part to help out flood victims in Louisiana by raising money online.
Titletown Brewing Company has launched a GoFundMe page called "Titletown for Louisiana".
"We've been following the tragedy that's happened down there, there's a lot of people in need," says Jim Kratowicz, COO of Titletown Brewing Company. "So we came up with the idea to raise some funds to help those folks out. We want to show our guests that Green Bay is a good place and that we care about other people."
The day before the Lambeau Field College Classic featuring the Wisconsin Badgers and LSU Tigers on September 3, Titletown Brewing Company will host the official pep rally. Kratowicz says it's estimated between 10,000 and 15,000 people will attend, many coming up from Baton Rouge for the game.
"I think our city and citizens have shown in the past that we rally around a cause when people need help," Kratowicz says. "We're going to have a lot of fun with that entire weekend, but we're just looking to provide an opportunity to help these folks out."
Kratowicz adds that any amount of money people can donate will go a long way to helping flood victims out with food, clothing or other items.
As of Thursday, officials say about 4,000 people statewide were in shelters. Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards said the death toll from the flooding stood at 13 people and about 30,000 people have been rescued from the floods.
