MINNEAPOLIS, MN (KELO-AM) The family of Jacob Wetterling in Minnesota finally gets some kind of closure - no matter how painful - 27 years after the 11-year-old boy went missing.
In a plea deal that keeps him from being tried for murder, Danny Heinrich on Tuesday officially admitted he kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and killed Jacob back in 1989.
Jacob's parents were in the Minneapolis courtroom, as the 53-year-old Heinrich calmly talked about what he did to their son.
Heinrich pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge. He could get 20 years in prison when the Judge decides his sentence.
After lying for years that he had nothing to do with the terrible crime, Heinrich finally led authorities to the remains of the boy last week.
