APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Police and the community in Appleton helped make the wish of an area teen battling cancer come true.
17-year-old Jacob Frerking of Appleton asked to become a police officer through Wisconsin's Make-A-Wish foundation. He's a fan of NASCAR and the television show "Cops".
On September 9, Frerking spent the day as an Appleton police officer in full uniform.
Frerking took part in numerous law enforcement tasks including catching a speeding driver, tackling a "bad guy", riding in a tactical vehicle and on the rescue boat. He also took part in training.
To start his day, Frerking was given the badge number 9275 for the day. The number was significant to him as #75 is the number of his favorite NASCAR driver.
In Frerking's honor, the badge number was retired.
