WASHINGTON (KFGO) - The presidents of five major labor unions are asking President Obama to allow construction to resume on the Dakota Access Pipeline.
The administration stopped the project after a federal judge declined the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's request for a temporary restraining order.
The union leaders say the project's delays are putting union members out of work and causing hardships for thousands of families. The letter is signed by Teamsters President James Hoffa and the leaders of other unions representing pipefitters, engineers, electrical workers and others.
The union leaders say the Dakota Access Pipeline is an "important project" that needs to proceed "without further interruption."
