Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Beatles legend Paul McCartney not only entertained the capacity crowd at the Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls Monday night, he also charmed them.
A collective sigh of "ahhhh" when up from the 11,000 fans when McCartney invited a woman and her son up on stage, and the little boy - Simon - proceeded to hug the rock icon around the legs. McCartney then picked Simon up in his arms. The picture of their meeting went around the World on McCartney's Twitter feed.
"Good evening, Sioux Falls," McCartney yelled out as the crowd roared its approval to kick off his first ever concert in South Dakota. And then the trip down musical memory lane began: Yesterday, a Hard Day's Night and all the rest of those classic Beatle songs that revolutionized rock.
There was a lot of gray hair in the audience - McCartney afterall is 73 - but parents brought their children and grandparents brought their grandkids - effectively erasing the generation gap, at least for one night.
