KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) -- Cher visited Michigan on Monday to campaign for presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.
A standing-room-only crowd attended her speech in Kalamazoo at the Bernhard Center on the campus of Western Michigan University.
State Rep. Jon Hoadley, D-Kalamazoo, introduced the superstar to the crowd. Before introducing her, he reminisced about a 16-year-old Hoadley belting out Cher songs in his basement.
"I am excited to have someone who knows how to speak some truth to power here," Hoadley said.
The 70-year-old was tasked with appealing to millennials, specifically the ones who were the staunchest Bernie Sanders supporters during the primary. She championed Clinton while mentioning Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachsetts, would ensure Clinton, if elected, would do what's right for people.
"I want you guys to have a better life," Cher said. "I want you guys to have what I had, which was infinite possibilities."
Cher took several shots at Donald Trump while making the case for the Democratic nominee.
"The downside is so horrible, and I believe the upside can be brilliant," Cher said. "The upside can be so great."
It was one of six scheduled campaign stops for the pop legend on Monday. She was also slated to speak to students on the campus of Michigan State University and at a Democratic fundraiser in Bloomfield Hills.
