Kaine Campaigns in Appleton

APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Democratic vice presidential hopeful Tim Kaine is making his first campaign appearance in northeast Wisconsin exactly one week before Election Day.

Kaine is headlining a campaign rally Tuesday on the campus of Lawrence University in Appleton. Also appearing with the Virginia Senator were Wisconsin state Representative Amanda Stuck (D-Appleton), U.S. Senate candidate Russ Feingold and U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin).

Hundreds of people attended the event to hear about Kaine and his running mate, Hillary Clinton, and what they will do should they win the White House.

Many of those at the Warch Campus Center say they have already voted in-person absentee and don't feel the FBI's reopening of the investigation into Clinton's emails while she was secretary of state would have them change their mind.

Regardless, Jack Mattner of Chilton, isn't too happy about the FBI making that decision so close to Election Day.

"They didn't even have a warrant yet, so it's really premature, so then keep your mouth shut."

Attendees hope that Kaine will focus on issues more important to the nation as a whole, rather than focusing on the email scandal.

On the Republican side, Wisconsin hosted a pair of events for presidential nominee Donald Trump on Tuesday. The first was an appearance in Green Bay by former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Trump, along with Giuliani and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, will hold a campaign rally in Eau Claire Tuesday evening.
