HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Now that he will become the 45th President of the United States on January 20th, just how serious is Donald Trump about being the Chief Executive of this nation?
This question comes up as a formal transition of government began on Thursday, and Hope College Political Science Professor David Ryden feels that this is a legitimate concern. In an appearance on "WHTC Morning News," Dr. Ryden said, "Is Trump going to be interested in leading? Is he actually going to be interested in governance, or will he be "out there", enjoying the limelight of the presidency while letting Republican leadership in Congress do the "heavy lifting" in terms of policy? How will they (Trump & Congress) work together? These are facinating questions."
Prior to meeting with Mr. Trump at the White House, President Obama pledged a smooth and peaceful transition, calling it a hallmark of democracy.
