FARGO (KFGO) - A document written by a veterans group that plans to participate in the Dakota Access Pipeline protest refers to law enforcement at the protest site as "the enemy."

"Veterans Stand for Standing Rock" plans to gather Sunday through Wednesday and form a "human shield" around the demonstrators.

In a six page "Operations Order" obtained by KFGO News, the organization calls itself "the Cavalry" and refers to pipeline protesters as "friendly forces."

The document says the veterans are coming to North Dakota to "put our bodies on the line, no matter the physical cost."  The internal order also says the veterans intend to "create an uproar in the country" and to prevent progress on the pipeline construction.

The estimated 2,000 participants are urged to bring body armor, a mask, hearing protection and plenty of cold weather gear, but to avoid bringing weapons or alcohol.

The document says the veterans expect to encounter up to 1,000 police officers.  The participants are told they will "most likely be gassed, pepper sprayed, shot with rubber bullets, hit with batons and briefly arrested."

A North Dakota veterans' group is urging the outside veterans not to participate.
