UNDATED (WKZO-AM) -- Over 1,500 volunteers at NORAD will be working hard to track Santa as he makes his trip around the globe on Christmas Eve.
Air Force 1st Lt. Lauren Hill said they don't quite know when the jolly old elf will reach Michigan or the rest of the Midwest.
"Santa's route is super, super secret," Hill said.
But they can take a guess.
"We can only predict that anywhere between 9 a.m. and midnight at any location around the world is when Santa's going to arrive," Hill said.
Hill said Santa will generally travel across the globe at starlight, but will slow down a bit for a fighter jet escort once he enters North American airspace.
"We use the same radars, satellites and jets that protect our homeland throughout the year," Hill said.
The organization has been tracking Santa for over 60 years.
NORAD officials will begin taking calls about Santa's position at around 6 a.m. Saturday. Santa can also be tracked through the NORAD Tracks Santa website.
